CLS Privacy Policy

CLS collects personal member information for the sole purpose of sustaining and improving its programs and to ensure that qualified volunteers are available to serve in leadership and support roles on an ongoing basis. All personal information is treated as "confidential/need to know" and is not shared with anyone outside of CLS or Marist College.

Examples of personal information include, but are not limited to: mailing address, email address, phone number, photos and biographical information such as education, career fields, ethnic background, interests, hobbies, etc. The following are some examples of how personal information may be used:

Curriculum and Special Events Development - To identify members who may be interested in serving on committees related to developing and implementing courses and special events.

Connections Outreach Programs - To seek out potential volunteers for the Adopt-a-School Program (helping Poughkeepsie elementary school children with reading) and Rural Seniors program which provides presentations at the Fountains at Millbrook.

Classroom Support and Audio/Visual – Class presentations often require a variety of multimedia equipment. Personal information may be used to identify members with the specialized knowledge and skills who may be interested in the setup and support A/V equipment during class presentations.

CLS-Marist Educational Exchange (C-MEE) - The C-MEE program offers CLS members the opportunity to share their wisdom and life experience to help college students with various projects. These projects are not only beneficial to the college students but are often very rewarding for the CLS members who participate. Personal information is essential in the selection of potential candidates for any specific C-MEE project.

Leadership - The continued success of CLS depends on good leadership. Leaders are required for chairing the various committees and subcommittees as well as serving as CLS Officers on the Council. Personal information may be used to identify potential candidates for the many leadership positions available in CLS.

Photos - Photographs and videos of individuals or groups of CLS member(s) may be used in the newsletter, on the website, or elsewhere for publicity purposes or other manner which benefits CLS.
