Mission Statement

The Campus Ministry community service program encourages men and women to serve others in the name of God.

Opportunities

Weekly Service

The weekly service program requires a commitment of two hours a week each week during the semester. Transportation is provided to most sites via the Campus Ministry shuttle van. Students who complete this time of service are eligible for priority points. Service Sites-Fall 2017

Following is a brief description of sites, days, and times. You must sign up for service in person with Brother Michael. Times are when you leave Marist and when you will be back at Marist. The number in parentheses (8, e.g.) after the site is how many people may sign up for that site.

Mondays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5)– assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

10:00 – 12:00 – Holy Trinity School (8) – assistance in the classroom, tutoring.

11:30 – 1:30 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Assistance in the lunch room and possibly recreation.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5) – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

1:45 – 3:45 – Pines Nursing Home (4) and Manor Nursing Home (4) – doing activities with residents.

2:15 – 4:15 – Lunch Box After School program (5) – Preparing and serving lunch to elementary school students.

2:45 – 4:45 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly after school recreation. Occasional tutoring.

3:30 – 5:30 – R.E.A.L. (8) – After school tutoring.

Tuesdays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5) – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

10:00 – 12:00 – Holy Trinity School (8) – assistance in the classroom, tutoring.

11:30 – 1:30 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Assistance in the lunch room and possibly recreation.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5) – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

1:45 – 3:45 – Hudson Valley Long Term Care (2) – Office Work, Filing, some case work, help with Website and social media (maintenance and some creation) – Open to anyone, but social work and IT majors would find this interesting.

2:15 – 4:15 – Lunch Box After School program (5) – Preparing and serving lunch to elementary school students.

2:45 – 4:45 – St. Peter’s School (8)– Mostly after school recreation. Occasional tutoring.

3:00 – 5:00 – Holy Trinity School (8)– After school recreation, occasional tutoring.

3:30 – 5:30 – Harriet Tubman Learning Center (8) – After school tutoring

Wednesdays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

9:15 – 11:15 – Lunch Box (4) - Food preparation for a soup kitchen.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5) – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

10:00 – 12:00 – Holy Trinity School (8) – assistance in the classroom, tutoring.

10:45 – 12:45 – Lunch Box (5) – serving people food at a soup kitchen.

11:30 – 1:30 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Assistance in the lunch room and possibly recreation.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5)– assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

2:15 – 4:15 – Lunch Box After School program (5) – Preparing and serving lunch to elementary school students.

2:45 – 4:45 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly after school recreation. Occasional tutoring.

2:45 – 4:45 – Bridges to Hope (7) – After school tutoring program.

2:45 – 4:45 – Catholic Charities (1) – Office work, work on programs, occasional case work.

3:00 – 5:00 – Holy Trinity School (8)– After school recreation, occasional tutoring.

3:30 – 5:30 – Harriet Tubman Learning Center (8) – After school tutoring

 

Thursdays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School (8) – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School (5) – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

1:45 – 3:45 – Pines Nursing Home (4) and Manor Nursing Home (4) – doing activities with residents.

2:00 – 4:00 – Birthright (2) – Office work some case work for an agency counseling pregnant women.

2:15 – 4:15 – Lunch Box After School program (5)– Preparing and serving lunch to elementary school students.

2:15 – 4:15 – Dress for Success (2) – arranging upscale donated clothing (Fashion Majors may be interested in this.)

2:45 – 4:45 – St. Peter’s School (8)– Mostly after school recreation. Occasional tutoring.

3:00 – 5:00 – Holy Trinity School (4)– After school recreation, occasional tutoring.

3:00 – 5:00 – Family Services (4) – After school tutoring.

3:30 – 5:30 – Harriet Tubman Learning Center (8) – After school tutoring

Fridays
