Mission Statement

The Campus Ministry community service program encourages men and women to serve others in the name of God.

Opportunities

Weekly Service

The weekly service program requires a commitment of two hours a week each week during the semester. Transportation is provided to most sites via the Campus Ministry shuttle van. Students who complete this time of service are eligible for priority points. Jan. 28 - Sign up in Byrne (10 am - 4 pm) for those who earned 2 points.

Jan. 29 - Sign up in Byrne (10 am - 4 pm) for those who earned 1 point.

You must sign up IN PERSON at Byrne House, or at the Volunteer Fair, or at one of the sign-up sessions listed above.

Once you have already signed up, you need to register officially on our Weekly Service Spring 2020 Registration Form.

Service Sites-Spring 2020

Following is a brief description of sites, days, and times. You must sign up for service in person with Brother Michael. Times are when you leave Marist and when you will be back at Marist. The number in parentheses (8, e.g.) after the site is how many people may sign up for that site.

Mondays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School  – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

10:00 – 12:00 – Holy Trinity School  – assistance in the classroom, tutoring.

10:00 - 12:00 - Lunch Box Soup Kitchen - preparing and serving food.

11:30 – 1:30 – St. Peter’s School  – Assistance in the lunch room and possibly recreation.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School  – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

1:45 – 3:45 – Manor Nursing Home  – doing activities with residents.

2:00 – 4:00 – Lunch Box After School program  – Preparing and serving lunch to elementary school students.

2:45 – 4:45 – St. Peter’s School  – Mostly after school recreation. Occasional tutoring.

3:30 – 5:30 – Harriet Tubman After School Program - tutoring, helping children with homework.

Tuesdays

9:00 – 11:00 – St. Peter’s School  – Mostly Pre-K with some classroom assistance.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School  – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

10:00 – 12:00 – Holy Trinity School  – assistance in the classroom, tutoring.

9:30 – 11:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School  – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.

11:30 – 1:30 – St. Peter’s School  – Assistance in the lunch room and possibly recreation.

1:30 – 3:30 – Violet Avenue Elementary School  – assistance in the classroom, some tutoring.
