Learn Beyond the Classroom: Experience NYC Through Marist

Marist in Manhattan provides students with a unique opportunity to live and work in New York City for a semester. Marist in Manhattan combines internship experience with unparalleled networking opportunities in New York City to create a transformative experience that prepares students to live, work, and lead in the workplace. School of Communication and the Arts students in Fashion, Communication, Public Relations, Media Arts, and Gaming who are accepted into the program are guaranteed internship placement.

Students participate in a full-time academic semester that integrates professional experience with coursework.

Program Dates

The initial launch for the Spring 2027 program runs from January 18 to May 15.
*Applications for the program are due: October 15, 2026

Who Can Apply? 

The following are the eligibility requirements for students who wish to participate in the program: 

  • Have earned 60 credits at the time of application
  • Earned both a cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 at the time of application (these GPA’s must be maintained through program departure)
  • Approval of the student’s academic advisor
  • The recommendation of a Marist University Faculty member
  • Have good standing with the office of Student Conduct
  • Completed either CRDV 100 or FASH 201 
  • Be a Full-time matriculated undergraduate Marist University student with a major or minor in a discipline taught in the School of Communication and the Arts

  • Resume (submitted through the application form)
  • Faculty Recommendation
  • Advisor Approval

Academic Structure

  • 9-credit internship (students will work 4 days a week at their internship placement)
  • 3-6 credits of online coursework through Marist
  • 1 credit mandatory Marist in Manhattan course

Students work four days per week in their internship placement, gaining hands-on experience while building industry connections and professional skills

Williamsburg, Brooklyn, offers students an exciting place to call home, blending a thriving arts and culture scene with renowned dining, music, and entrepreneurial energy. Situated along the East River with sweeping views of Manhattan and convenient subway access, the neighborhood is a popular destination for young professionals and students alike. Through a partnership with Bard College, Marist provides students with modern housing in Williamsburg featuring double-occupancy rooms with en-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes, as well as 24/7 security and live-in residential staff, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and immersive New York City living experience.

 

Program Cost

Marist in Manhattan participants pay one full-time undergraduate tuition (12-16 credits) based on the University's approved tuition schedule and an additional study-away fee to enroll in the Marist in Manhattan program. The Marist in Manhattan fee includes orientation, program-related activities, housing, pre-departure orientation, and program support from the School of Communication and the Arts.
