Session One: The Rust Belt vs. The Sun Belt with Amy Walter
April 1, 2020 at 6:30 pm
With the key primaries of Florida, Illinois, and Ohio in the rearview mirror, Amy Walter, the National Editor of the Cook Political Report discusses the pathways to the nomination for the remaining Democratic candidates. Walter will also glimpse ahead to the general election and discuss what the results of these primaries indicate for congressional elections in November.
Participants will also learn the differences between the polls — for instance between telephone and internet polls — the challenges in measuring support in open versus closed-primary states, and the importance of field dates.
Session Two: The Early Primaries with Joel Benenson
April 15, 2020 at 6:30 pm
On the heels of the highly anticipated Iowa caucuses, New Hampshire primary, and Super Tuesday, this session will assess the implications for the remaining candidates in the Democratic field through the lens of Joel Benenson, founder and CEO of Benenson Strategy Group who worked on President Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 bid.
Benenson will shed light on the meaning behind the recent polls and the implications of “momentum” coming out of these all-important contests.
Session Three: The Homestretch with Steve Kornacki
April 29, 2020 at 6:30 pm
With a handful of states left in the primary process, Steve Kornacki, National Political Correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC, lends his analysis to a discussion of the final field of Democratic candidates vying for the nomination.
As anticipation for the 2020 general election builds, the session will also touch upon the electoral prospects of the remaining Democratic candidates and those of President Donald Trump. We’ll explore how past polls can give critical historical perspective, as well as why polls are NOT predictive.
"Decision 2020" is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for anyone following the 2020 primaries and polling.
