Red Fox Spotlight: Professor Ed Smith
Professor of Art Ed Smith’s sculpture primarily focuses on the heroic and mythical aspects of humankind. For those lucky enough to know him at Marist, the man himself is something of a hero, too. In addition to teaching in the Art & Digital Media Department, Smith is also the Director of the Marist College Art Gallery and Marist Venice Biennale Program. This summer his sculptures and drawings will be featured in galleries from Hudson, NY, to Rutland, VT, and Anne Arundel County, MD.
Marist is a comprehensive, independent institution grounded in the liberal arts whose mission is to “help students develop the intellect, character, and skills required for enlightened, ethical, and productive lives in the global community of the 21st century.” Founded in 1929 by the Marist Brothers, the College is now ecumenical in character, but we remain guided by their timeless ideals: excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service.
