In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), ensuring physical distance between students, faculty, and staff is essential to protecting our community. Individuals may have been exposed to the virus and become carriers of COVID-19, but show no symptoms. These individuals are known as asymptomatic or presymptomatic and can transmit the virus to other individuals unknowingly. A minimum of 6 feet distance between individuals will lower the likelihood of transmitting COVID-19 and keep all members of our community healthy. We have taken the following steps to usher this change into our daily life on campus:

Campus space modifications

All campus locations, including classrooms, residence halls, dining hall, and offices have been modified to reduce density in accordance with NYS requirements.

Limit large gatherings

Campus gatherings and non-essential gatherings have been limited in size in accordance with NYS requirements. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use WebEx or other online platforms to facilitate group interactions.

Density reduction

To comply with social distancing guidelines, all shared common spaces on campus will have reduced density. Gatherings in lounges and other informal spaces will be limited, and students must maintain social distancing at all times and wear a face covering over their nose, mouth, and chin. Marist strongly encourages the use of outdoor locations on campus.
