The Marist Young Professionals allows staff and faculty beginning their careers to find like-minded individuals that are reaching the next level of their careers together.

The Women Leadership Program strives to expand professional development and opportunities at Marist for women in the administration.

The Diversity Council is comprised of members of the Marist community hand-picked by the President to ensure efforts encouraging diversity, inclusion, and equity are being advanced across the college.

The Diversity Leadership Institute is designed to train faculty and staff on a plethora of areas related to awareness, application, and action in regards to diversity across Marist.

The Marist Young Professionals (MYP) provide early- to mid-career Marist faculty and staff with opportunities to develop professionally, network internally and externally, support Hudson Valley non-profit organizations, and strengthen the Marist community.

MYP partners and sponsors events both on and off-campus, and is open to all Marist employees regardless of age, years of experience, or full or part-time status. Check out our events page to sign up for our events!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to expand Marist's diversity initiatives by offering women administrators opportunities for professional development at Marist. In keeping with Marist’s mission of ensuring a diverse and inclusive community, this program encourages leadership development among women administrators through educational events, training, and relationship building.

History of the Women's Leadership Program

This leadership program began in 2008 as the Marist Professional Women’s Mentor Program, an initiative of Marist’s Human Resources office. A volunteer Advisory Committee launched the endeavor with nine mentor–mentee pairs. By 2017, the program had grown to 30 pairs.

In 2018, the Advisory Committee decided to redirect the program to focus on leadership development. The committee still believes in the value of mentoring and would like to salute all past and present mentor–mentee pairs for the important work they have done over the past decade. Indeed, we encourage currently active pairs to continue to meet, and although the committee will no longer be matching mentees with mentors, we look forward to offering networking opportunities at which participants can identify potential mentors and pursue a mentoring experience on their own if they wish. All women administrators at Marist are invited to take part in the new Leadership Program. To help us plan activities, we’d like to hear from you! We hope you’ll take a few minutes to complete the very short survey at the following link to tell us what topics most interest you: https://goo.gl/forms/yGqsuIzNTyn712Ap2

The Marist College Diversity Leadership Institute (MCDLI), an effort created by Associate Professor of Psychology Stacy A.S. Williams is designed to train faculty and staff in the following areas:

       - Awareness
       - Application
       - Action

This institute is developed to ensure the College faculty and staff are able to sustain and promote diversity and inclusion across the campus and facilitate and implement change in the community. Efforts across campus to facilitate change related to diversity and inclusion won’t stop at the MCDLI, faculty and staff training will be a mandatory requirement in an effort to eliminate implicit bias.

Learn more about MCDLI here >

The Marist College Diversity Council fulfills an advisory role to the President of the College in matters related to diversity, inclusion, and equity.  Comprised of members from across the College appointed by the President, the Council is a hub for strategic and collaborative thinking. The Council works alongside the Diversity Leadership which includes the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement (DICE) and the Director for Academic Diversity and Inclusion to set the diversity agenda of the College.

Also, the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences Creating Inclusive Communities (CIC) group and the Teaching and Training Subcommittee (TTS) of the Diversity Council are launching the Marist College Diversity Leadership Institute (MCDLI) on June 15, 2020. This endeavor would allow eight faculty/staff members and two students to develop awareness and skills to further implement and sustain diversity and inclusion initiatives on the Marist College campus. MCDLI would bring together faculty, staff, and students to participate in weeklong (June 15 – June 19) didactic, experiential, and peer-mentored workshops.
