Theatre Program & MCCTA to perform the 1998 revival version of the decadent and devastatingly relevant musical

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Feb. 22, 2017) – The Marist Theatre Program and Marist College Club of Theatre Arts (MCCTA) present Cabaret in the Nelly Goletti Theatre beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22.

This unique re-telling of an ever-important story is directed by Matt Andrews, Associate Professor and Director of Theatre Program at Marist. Cabaret is set in early 1930’s Berlin as the Nazi Party is rising to power in Germany, with much of the action taking place in the free spirited and often seedy Kit Kat Klub. The plot revolves around the journey of a young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw, and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Cliff witnesses the changing landscape of pre-war Berlin first-hand, as characters must decide whether life is simply a cabaret or on the verge of something terribly remarkable. Overseeing the action is the Emcee, Master of Ceremonies of the Kit Kat Klub, and the memorable score contains such favorites as Willkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Perfectly Marvelous, and its signature song, Cabaret. 

Cabaret performs Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m., with additional matinees Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday Feb. 26 at 2 p.m., in the Nelly Goletti Theatre in the Murray Student Center.
