Youth Band Camp

Logo for Youth Band Camp It’s summer and that means it’s time to rock out and play in a band with our Youth Band Camp!

Starting July 8 we are offering two 5-day rock band workshops in which students can experience the thrill and excitement of playing in a band. They will learn about the history of rock and roll by playing the music that started it all off – the blues. Following the development of rock and roll they will go on to play classic songs from the 1950s-1970s and discover how much fun it is to play the music that made rock and roll the most popular style of music in America.

Playing in band for the first time can be scary or even overwhelming but have no fear. Our objective is to give students a great time learning how to play in a band. In our workshops they will learn how to communicate with each other, learn new tricks and skills while exploring their instruments and techniques. As a result students will build confidence in themselves and their skills that will help them on their road as musicians.

The workshops will be run by Julian Baker. Julian teaches the History of Rock and Roll at Marist and has been providing rock band workshops for students ovr the past 10 years. He is an experienced musician having played in many bands in London and New York City and brings a wealth of knowledge with him.
