April 9, 2024 — The continued surge in interest in a Marist education was on full display over the past weekend as admitted students and their families packed campus for the first two Admitted Student Days. Prospective new Marist students experienced what may be their new home on the Hudson this fall, with hundreds more set to visit for the final Admitted Student Day on Saturday, April 13.

The morning kicked off in the McCann Arena with a welcome from President Kevin Weinman, Vice President for Enrollment Management Sean Kaylor, alumnus Andrew Kayiira, Jr. '04, and honors student Krystyna Lubrano '24. Admitted students and their families then spread out across campus for a chance to experience a “day in the life” of a Marist student.

Faculty, current students, staff, and alumni met with prospective students, discussing the unique mix of academic and student life experiences that Marist offers.

President Weinman stressed the major choice ahead for these students—where to spend the next four years:

“It's not just about preparing yourself for a lifetime of success, but also about getting the most out of your college experience, both inside and outside the classroom,” said Weinman. “I’m here to tell you that you’ve come to the right place! Here, you will have a comprehensive, 'all-in' learning experience that will challenge you and help you grow and develop as scholars, professionals, and individuals.”

"The number of students who are saying 'Yes, I'm ready to be a Red Fox' has been overwhelming, and we are very excited about the Class of 2028," said Kent Rinehart, Dean of Undergraduate Admission. "It's been great seeing prospective students and the welcoming Marist community and faculty who are going to help transform their lives."

Ring the Bell!
Throughout the weekend, the sound of a bell echoed through the rotunda in the Murray Student Center as the newest Red Foxes secured their spot for the fall semester. Prospective students made it official by ringing the bell, taking photos, and receiving their choice of Marist merchandise upon committing to join the next incoming class.

Those who rang the bell expressed excitement about officially becoming a Red Fox.

“I really love the location and being right along the water,” said Emma Reynolds '28. “Everyone I speak to here is just so nice, and I really love the environment. My favorite part is the people because everyone is so welcoming. Everyone I’ve spoken to today and the two other times I’ve been here have reassured me this is the place I want to be.”

“I’m so excited to be a Red Fox and to join the crew team,” said Brooke Dini '28. “I love the welcoming community. Everyone is so nice here, and I love the campus.”

The Admitted Student Day experience was filled with activities, including:

  • Exploring Marist through a variety of tour options, highlighting the College’s unique and nationally recognized campus life. They include: first-year and upperclass residence halls; state-of-the-art academic facilities, such as the new Dyson Center that opens this fall; several different campus dining options; and athletics and recreation facilities.
  • Visiting the student activities fair, where over 80 clubs and organizations showcased the diverse involvement opportunities available to Marist students.
  • Engaging with faculty in the classroom to learn about Marist's distinctive and heavily immersive hands-on learning approach, as well as its #1 ranked Study Abroad program.
  • Connecting with other admitted students at a ZeeMee meet and mingle event.

The last Admitted Student Day is set for Saturday, April 13. There’s still time for admitted students to register and attend!
