Visiting Lecturer of Environmental Science

Bio

Dr. Torres represents the social sciences branch of environmental studies with his specializations in the Blue Economy and sustainable development. The Blue Economy combines responsible environmental stewardship with sustainable socioeconomic policies in marine, major lake, coastal, island, and river estuary settings. Dr. Torres’ most recent publication is the single author chapter, The Blue Economy, Climate, Tourism, and Social Injustice in Barbuda, which focuses on post-hurricane reconstruction environmental justice and policy issues in the Caribbean, in the book entitled Blue Economy: Place, Space, and Regional Transitions, which was made available to the public by Routledge on December 2022. Dr. Torres is also currently researching Blue Economy-based public-private partnerships in the Azores islands of Portugal.
