Alex '22

Hometown: Trumbull, CT

Major: Psychology/Dual Certification in Childhood/Special Education (1-6)

Campus Involvement: Previous President of the Student Programming Council (SPC), President of FEMME, Marist's intersectional feminism club, Head Editor for the Student Government Association Public Affairs Committee (SGA PAC), Campus Ambassador and Tour Guide, member of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education, and a student tutor.

Additional Activities: I'm a substitute elementary school teacher in a district in CT, and will actually be student teaching at the school where I've been working! I also have been a nanny for families and even got to travel to Spain! I love adventuring, shopping, and going to concerts.

Advice for the Class of ‘26: I tell my elementary students that it's okay if they haven't met their forever groups yet. I tell them that I was scared for middle school, but I actually met my two closest current friends on the first day of sixth grade. College is the same way. It can be scary, and although I was ready for Marist, I didn't know what to expect! It's okay, though. Just let it all happen. All incoming students feel the same way, and everyone that came before you was also in your shoes. Put yourself out there and immerse yourself in everything Marist has to offer. Everything works out exactly how it's meant to and it will all be okay.

Advice for the Class of ’26: Something I was told going into my first year at college which heavily impacted the way I viewed others and my experience at college was how important making connections was. Being told that every person I'd meet in college has something to offer encouraged me to become more open minded to new ideas, people, and overall, opportunities. There are benefits to helping others and in return, receiving help throughout our journey to success. By building connections, we are able to enhance our communication skills, self-advocacy and most importantly create a community of support.

Additional Activities: This fall, following my graduation from Marist, I will be pursuing my Psy.D in School Psychology!

Advice for the Class of ’26: "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." Going away to college comes with many emotions. These include excitement and anticipation, as well as fear, worry, and anxiety. Though this process is not easy, it shapes you into the person you are meant to be and strengthens you. Just beyond all of your worries, lies the best 4 years of your life. Coming to Marist makes it easy to meet your best friends, fall in love with your major, and overall become the best version of yourself. Welcome to the Red Fox family! We are so excited to have you.
