Advice for the Class of 2027: Take advantage of opportunities that come your way. You never know if a sporadic club meeting will end up giving you some of your closest friends while at Marist. Connect with your professors because they could be mentors that you talk with even after your time in college is done. Live in the moment and enjoy everything that comes your way because all of a sudden, you’re looking back on the memories! It will all be okay.

Advice for the Class of 2027: "Do something." This may sound very simple but honestly it is the best, non-cliche, advice I could give new first-year students. Join a club, intramural/club sport, or go the SPC-run campus events. These are just some of the ways to meet people and make your college experience memorable. DO NOT wait around, it does not matter what it is just do something.

Advice for the Class of 2027: What I wish someone told me before I got to college was to be patient. The first few weeks is a time period where many try to find their friend groups for the semester, and sometimes it can be draining and exhausting if you feel like the group you became part of is one where you don't "fit in." Give the semester time and through your classes and being involved, you will find those people that are truly the ones where you can be yourself!

Although there are stresses and worries that come with starting a new adventure, Marist has so much good to offer. There is always something to look forward to, and although the adjustment may be difficult, the good will always outweigh the bad.

However, it’s important to just be yourself and explore what Marist has to offer! Everyone coming in is as nervous as you are so don't panic and overwhelm yourself. Lena, ‘26
Hometown: Wethersfield, CT
Major: Communication (with concentrations in Public Relations and Journalism)

On Campus Involvement: Since coming to Marist this past fall, I have joined a plethora of campus activities. For my major, communications with a concentration in public relations and journalism, I have become a member of PRSSA (the Public Relations Student Society of America) and was also invited to join North Road Communications as part of their Hudson Valley Film Commission team. Aside from the career oriented extra-curriculars, I am also part of the Marist College dance ensemble, have been inducted into NSLS (the National Society for Leadership and Success), and am a Student Activities Operational Crew (SAOC) member with a manager position title on the way. And, as for the fall of 2023, I will be spending my first four months of the academic year studying abroad in Florence, Italy. There truly are a multitude of opportunities here at Marist, and I recommend you do all you can to take advantage of each one. It can definitely get exhausting, but it's so worth it in the end

Additional Activities: In the summer of 2016 I founded a non-profit project called, "Cupcakes Curing Cancer" where I donate all proceeds to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation in support of funding childhood cancer research. Over the past 7 years, I can proudly say my project has raised over $3,000 for this amazing cause! Aside from helping out in the community, I also love to bake in my free time and dance whenever I get the opportunity. Both of these hobbies have become my escape from reality, releasing all stress and allowing me to be in the moment. So, never stop doing the things you love or are passionate about...even in college they're important to have!

Advice for the Class of 2027: Here is some useful advice for the class of 2027 that has truly stuck with me these past few months...These four years of college only come around once, so enjoy every moment while you can. Study hard...but also remember to have fun!
