Yara Adely learned about Marist’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program through a newspaper ad her father found. “With the prestigious reputation that Marist has, and doing more research about the school, I knew that Marist was the right choice for my graduate education,” said Adely. With Marist only being an hour and fifteen minutes from her hometown of Yonkers, NY, the convenience factor was also a big part of her decision to attend.

While Adely notes that sometimes being a graduate student can be a rollercoaster of emotions, there’s also room for fun. “Some of my favorite memories since starting my DPT journey in January 2018 include volunteering for the Kids of Poughkeepsie, where we filled backpacks for children in need before their school year began. Also, on Halloween, our theme was footsie PJs, and we all had a great time and shared many laughs,” said Adely. She has recently started her first week of clinical affiliation, which is “putting what we have learned over the past 14 months into practice. It has been a bit overwhelming, but I feel so prepared from the DPT program to be able to handle this with courage,” she noted.
