Middle States Commission on Higher Education
Reaccreditation Effort 2021-2023
Accreditation Introduction
Welcome to Marist’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education Self-Study Process. According to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA):
“Accreditation” is review of the quality of higher education institutions and programs. In the United States, accreditation is a major way that students, families, government official, and the press know that an institution or program provides a quality education."
Marist is currently accredited under the Middle States Commission on Higher Education: msche.org
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education maintains seven Standards for Accreditation as well as fifteen Requirements of Affiliation: msche.org/standards
Overview of the Middle States Reaccreditation Process
Through a comprehensive self-study process, Marist aims to secure re-accreditation by demonstrating its adherence to the outlined Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation as well as investigating several key priorities for reflection and growth. The self-study process is intended to be a transparent, inclusive, and collaborative one that involves all campus constituents, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and board members.
Update on the Middle States Process
Marist completed a draft of the Self-Study Report in Fall 2022, with the intention of crafting an honest, evidence-based evaluation of the College’s signature accomplishments, adherence to the Middle States standards, and areas for future consideration.
