  • Pre-Dental: Our rigorous curriculum provides a strong scientific background for the Dental Admissions Test and dental school, and local dentists provide crucial internship experience.
  • Pre-PA: In addition to the required coursework, you can become EMT certified for obtaining direct patient experience and will have access to special advising and workshops in preparation for applying to PA schools
  • Pre-Veterinary: Our pre-vet students received specialized advising in coursework and veterinary school preparation, as well as essential internship experience with local veterinary hospitals and clinics.
  • Other Health Professions: Students also consider paths in fields such as chiropractic, pharmacy, physical therapy, genetic counseling, podiatry, nursing, sports medicine, optometry, and many more!

Opportunities for Underrepresented Students in Medicine

At Marist, we are dedicated to providing equitable paths toward success in medicine, particular for students who are Underrepresented in Medicine (URiM). This includes our students from racial or ethnic groups underrepresented in medicine and other health professions, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and those in the first generation of their family to attend college. Partnering with Marist’s Center for Multicultural Affairs, we’ve developed a number of specialized programs to promote success for our URiM students, including the Pre-Health Scholar Cohort for URiM students designed to provide a support network for students who might not have one.

“The love of science and the desire to care for others is the basis for becoming a health care provider. As the Pre-Health Program Coordinator at Marist, I am here to help take you from the first step down the path of undergraduate education, over the obstacles of applying to health professions graduate schools, to graduation from Marist. Marist alumni have had great success in their applications to health professions schools and in their healthcare careers, we can’t wait for you to join them.”
