Social Work Program/CSWE Student Learning Outcomes


The Program is designed to prepare students for competent social work practice as defined by the 2015 Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy Accreditation Standards (EPAS).The goal of competency based education is to assure that students can successfully integrate and apply the competencies in practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.  The core competencies are further explicated by the Marist College Social Work Program as a Social Work Program Competency (SWPC). 

There are nine SWPC's:

SWPC 1          Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior

SWPC 2          Engage Diversity and Difference in Practice

SWPC 3          Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice

SWPC 4          Engage In Practice-informed Research and Research-informed Practice

SWPC 5          Engage in Policy Practice

SWPC 6          Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

SWPC 7          Asses Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

SWPC 8          Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

SWPC 9          Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
