Program Director for the PA Program

Bio

Jeff Midgley, DMSc, PA-C, is the Program Director and Clinical Associate Professor for the Marist University Physician Assistant Program. He joined the program full-time in 2017 after serving as a member of the advisory board, clinical preceptor, and adjunct faculty member. Dr. Midgley earned his Doctor of Medical Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Touro College, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Binghamton University. 

Prior to entering academia, Dr. Midgley spent nearly two decades practicing emergency medicine in both community and academic hospital settings throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. His clinical background continues to shape his teaching philosophy by emphasizing practical application, critical thinking, risk management, and patient-centered care. 

Dr. Midgley's academic interests include medical education, curriculum design, simulation, artificial intelligence, and educational technology. He is passionate about creating engaging learning experiences and leveraging innovative technologies to improve both student learning and program operations. His work has been recognized through presentations at regional conferences on topics including educational technology, artificial intelligence, faculty development, and process automation in PA education. 

Beyond Marist, Dr. Midgley serves as an ARC-PA Site Visitor and contributes to multiple national initiatives through the New York State Society of Physician Associates. He is committed to preparing compassionate, knowledgeable, and adaptable clinicians while continually exploring new ways to advance physician assistant education.
