Important COVID-19 Information Update: Precautionary Quarantine Leo and Sheahan Halls

Dear Members of the Marist Community,

We are reaching out to inform you that the College identified several cases of COVID-19 through our testing protocols conducted this weekend. These results affect students residing in Leo and Sheahan Halls. Out of an abundance of caution, we have placed these residence facilities in a precautionary quarantine. As you know, this has been our standard practice until contact tracing and testing are complete.

While the public health measures we have put in place in the residence halls and classrooms create a very low probability of COVID-19 spread, we are taking extra precautions to ensure that our campus community remains safe. Because of inclement weather, the McCann Recreation Center will be closed tomorrow, November 2, in order to use the facility for testing.

While we cannot provide an exact timeframe for the precautionary quarantine to end, we are working with MidHudson Regional Hospital, our medical partner, to expedite testing results. We appreciate your patience as we await these results, and will update the Marist community as soon as more information is available. The College frequently updates our COVID-19 metrics through the online dashboard

Sincerely,

Geoff Brackett, Executive Vice President
Thom Wermuth, Vice President for Academic Affairs
Deb DiCaprio, Vice President for Student Affairs
