What do you most enjoy about History? What interests you about it, and why is it important to you?

What I love about history is how set in stone the past is on a factual base. What has happened in the past is already history, we cannot really change it. Though we may not know how exactly everything happened, we can try our best to discover some missing information from the past. It is also up to us to learn and grow from it as a society. Any mistakes that we have made in the past can be worked on in the present to create a world that is better for many. From what has happened I am also influenced on how to behave and live my life.

What does it mean to you to be a Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History (GLI) Scholarship recipient?

Being a GLI Scholarship recipient is a big honor. To me, it's a big indicator that the path I am on is recognized and supported by those who chose me to receive this scholarship. It's more than just my past achievements but also about my future plans and goals. Providing me with the help that a GLI scholarship recipient receives makes it possible for me to achieve great things and one day make a difference with my knowledge of history.

How has being a GLI Scholarship recipient impacted your Marist experience?

Being a GLI Scholarship recipient has made my Marist Experience so much more special. This scholarship has given me peace of mind about the financial aspect of college. I am able to be worry-free knowing that money won't be a major setback, but it has provided me with so much more. I have been given more opportunities to interact with my sponsors and build a bond with them. It has also made it possible for me to experience events and meetings that I would not have had the honor of attending if it weren't for being a GLI scholarship recipient. It has been a wonderful experience that helps me live my college years to the fullest.
