Policies and Procedures for On-Ground Students, August 12, 2020

August 12, 2020 — Marist is very excited to welcome everyone back to campus for the Fall 2020 semester! The College’s administration has been working diligently to ensure Marist can open safely for all members of our community in compliance with guidelines put in place by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State (NYS), and county health officials. In order to join us on campus this Fall, all students must complete the following items to ensure the health and safety of our community is protected.

Mandatory Training
All students are required to complete online training modules in regard to COVID-19, which outline the new policies and procedures put in place to protect the pack. As you’ve seen through the many emails we’ve sent over the last few weeks, there will be a lot of changes to our campus.

The training program includes the new COVID-19 Code of Conduct, which will be in place for the remainder of the pandemic. At the completion of the training module, you will be asked to click the link to confirm that you have read and understand the new requirements and agree to abide by these rules to ensure the safety of all community members.

COVID-19 Code of Conduct
Marist is engaged in numerous efforts to prevent, mitigate, and respond to the potential spread of COVID-19 on our campus. It is crucial for students to take personal responsibility for protecting the health and safety of our campus community. As a condition of returning to campus, you are expected to be diligent in your commitment to comply with all COVID-19 related policies while on campus and in the surrounding community.

This addendum to the Student Code of Conduct will remain in effect until otherwise noted by the College. Amendments to these polices may occur based on the College’s evolving understanding of COVID-19, and current guidance from federal, state, and county health officials.

Please take the time to read and review our COVID Code of Conduct.

Uploading Test Results
All students residing or completing coursework on campus are required to have a PCR COVID-19 test done prior to arrival on campus and submit the test results through the secure portal that has been set up by Marist’s local medical partner, Westchester Medical Center.

If your test comes back positive for COVID-19, DO NOT come to campus. You must contact Marist Health Services at (845) 575-3270 and consult your personal healthcare provider immediately. If you test positive, you may not travel to campus until you are cleared by Marist Health Services.

Health and Safety Measures
The College has developed a series of protocols and safety measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State (NYS), New York Forward, and county health officials, as well as the experience of Marist’s own medical experts. We require that you wear a facial covering when in public and within six feet of others, while practicing social distancing. A complete list of health and safety practices required by the College can be found here.

It is critical that all members of the Marist community take responsibility for their individual behavior to help prepare for a safe reopening. Even with the best of planning, the College cannot eliminate the health and safety risks posed by COVID-19. We can, however, work together to reduce those risks. Thank you for your cooperation and your assistance in keeping the Marist community safe!

Sincerely,
Deborah DiCaprio
