Typical Daily Schedule for Poughkeepsie, NY Classes

Below is the typical daily schedule during Summer Pre-College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Class will begin at the conclusion of orientation on Opening Day (Sunday, June 28th for Session I and Sunday, July 12th for Session II). Classes are held Sunday to Saturday during the first week, and Monday to Friday during the second week. The program will conclude on Saturday (Saturday, July 11th for Session I and Saturday, July 25th for Session II) with final presentations open to the student’s family/friends.

Social activities will be available for students on the Sunday in-between week one and two. Activities may include off-campus trips, for example, a walk across the Walkway Over the Hudson, movie theatre, bowling, or students may opt for on-campus activities.

9:00 AM - Class Begins – Class sessions vary each day, and program to program. The course syllabus will contain course-specific details and will be sent out closer to the start of the program.
12:00 PM* - Lunch

8:30 PM - Social Activities
11:00 PM – Suite Call – All students must be in their room

*Lunch is staggered by program and run between 11:45 AM – 12:30 PM

Some programs include field trips during class hours - dates and locations will be indicated in the course syllabus.

Evening social activities will be planned by the Housing and Residential Life staff. Activities in past years included karaoke, fire pit, and s’mores, taco night, game night, etc.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to sign up for an optional 10-minute Admission Interview during one of their lunch breaks. 

Typical Daily Schedule for NYC Classes

Below is the typical daily schedule during Summer Pre-College at the Executive Center in New York City. The first day of the program will begin with orientation for students and their family members, which will start at 8:30 AM (Monday, June 29th for Session I and Monday, July 13th for Session II). Class will begin at the conclusion of orientation on Opening Day. Each day class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM. Lunch will be provided in the Executive Center for the students. Classes are held Monday to Friday both weeks. On the final day of the program, there will be final presentations for each program and family members are invited to attend.

Students will visit the Marist campus in Poughkeepsie, NY for an overnight trip during the weekend in-between weeks one and two, for both sessions. Students will be required to meet at Grand Central Station to take the train to Poughkeepsie on Sunday.  Students will return to Grand Central on Monday where they will be dismissed to travel home. Students will participate in social activities with the Poughkeepsie Pre-College attendees on Sunday they are on campus. Activities may include off-campus trips, for example, a walk across the Walkway Over the Hudson, movie theatre, bowling, or students may opt for on-campus activities.

Please note that students must report to class each day for the duration of the two-week program in order to receive college credit.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to sign up for an optional 10-minute Admission Interview during their trip to Poughkeepsie.
