Enhance Your Academic Journey with the Enterprise Computing Minor
The Enterprise Computing Minor at Marist is an opportunity for students of all majors to supplement their academic path to progress toward a career in large-scale computing for telecommunications, finance, insurance, and government. Just as our partnership with tech institution IBM and our state-of-the-art facilities set this program apart, our minor in Enterprise Computing will set you apart for a competitive edge when entering the workforce.
A Customizable Enterprise Computing Curriculum
The Enterprise Computing minor is designed to be easily integrated with any academic path and to be customizable to your specific interests in enterprise computing. Your required coursework will provide you with fundamentals in enterprise computing, while electives like z/OS Networking, z/OS Security, and z/OS Emerging Technologies allow you to hone in on your unique interests in the field.
Apply Your Learning in Our Enterprise Computing Research Lab
The Marist ECRL contains, among other exciting projects, our test environment for Software Defined Networking (SDN) where our students and faculty research the latest in networking technology. In collaboration with other students and faculty in the Cloud Computing Analytics Center you can help companies to test new networking products, prototype interoperability and compliance solutions, work on developing new technology, and brainstorm with our customers about new research opportunities.
Tap Into Our Marist-IBM Partnership
Recognized as one of the 25 Most Connected Campuses in the U.S. by Princeton Review and Forbes, Marist has garnered meaningful partnerships with major institutions in technology, including IBM. Through the Marist/IBM Joint Study program, you can participate in testing of IBM’s new concepts and technology right here on campus in our Enterprise Computing Lab, our Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, and our Cloud Computing and Analytics Lab. The partnership also grants our students access to conferences like IBM’s TechConnect, resources like IBM’s Open Source Development Lab, and internship and career opportunities for during after your time at Marist.
Marist Has the World’s First IBM LinuxONE III™—and it’s Yours to Use
IBM LinuxONE III™, a highly secured enterprise platform for mission-critical applications and sensitive data for hybrid cloud, is installed here on campus—the first installation of the platform anywhere.
With this opportunity, Marist students can experience a different computing architecture and work side-by-side with faculty and IBM professionals on enterprise computing technologies. LinuxONE provides:
- hands-on access to complete labs on highly secure application development
- access to open source tools
- exposure to emerging technologies like blockchain
