Chris Stone

Associate Professor of Management

Bio

Dr. Stone is an Associate Professor, educator, researcher, and organizational behavior expert with a background as a U.S. Air Force veteran, small business owner, Faculty Senate President, and department chair. He draws on his firsthand military and leadership experience to inform his research and teaching, helping shape how future professionals understand the workplace. 

An experienced leader, mentor, and administrator with a career spanning hospitality, retail, quality management and process improvement, as well as various other industries, Dr. Stone enjoys keeping his classroom practical and engaging, focusing on the knowledge and skills students need to succeed at work. His research centers on veteran transition, with an emphasis on employment transition, barriers to employment, job search behaviors, and person-job fit, alongside his broader work in management education. He has also developed conceptual models to explain various veteran transition phenomena and studied stereotypes of veterans in the selection process, work that keeps him engaged both inside and outside the classroom.
