Earn Your Professional Teaching Certification

The Online Master of Arts in Education (MSED) in Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction at Marist is particularly designed for teachers with an initial teaching certification in New York State seeking their professional teaching certification. In this program, approved by the New York State Education Department, teachers in public and private school settings explore the theory and hands-on practice of the psychology behind being an excellent educator.

Marist University is a participant in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). This agreement allows Marist to offer distance-learning programs to students residing in other SARA member states. SARA authorization does not extend to professional licensure board approvals.

The MSED curriculum is designed to meet certification requirements in New York State. For out-of-state students who intend to seek certification outside of New York, Marist will determine if the Master of Science in Education program will satisfy the educational requirements for certification in the U.S. state or jurisdiction where the student lives or plans to seek certification.
