As Kevin Weinman prepares to take the helm of Marist on Monday, October 4, President Dennis J. Murray expresses profound gratitude to the Marist community for extraordinary work during his nearly 40 years as President.

Dr. Alexander Henderson Associate Professor of Public Administration was appointed as a commissioner on the Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC), a part of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).

Johnson has made a permanent home at Marist College as the Director of the Upward Bound program, serving as the third program director in 55 years.

Hudson River Valley Institute (HRVI) will present the 10th annual Handel-Krom Lecture in Hudson River Valley History, “Discovering the Hudson Anew: Exploring History and the Environment from an Artist’s Perspective.”

Marist is once again recognized as a Top and Most Innovative institution in the Regional Universities-North category.

Dr. Kravchuk graduated from SUNY Maritime in 1978 in the first class of female cadets. Now she is molding the next leaders of educators at Marist and was appointed to the SUNY Maritime College Council.

Ian Shultis ’14/’21, completed his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training and proceeded to work toward his doctorate in Physical Therapy at Marist. Ian and his classmates will be the second graduating class in the history of the Marist Doctor of Physical Therapy program this December.

Focused on helping a local business in need, Jacob Ruthazer ’21, with the help of Dr. Helen Rothberg, gathered students across Marist to help a business impacted by COVID-19.

Dr. Weinman, the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer at Amherst College, will become Marist’s fifth president, succeeding long-serving President Dennis J. Murray. He will assume office in early fall.

Mangan will head to Taiwan and McClear will head to South Korea as English Teaching Assistants.

Andy Alongi, Director of Marketing, and Dr. Marisa M. Moore, PhD, Interim Director of Counseling Services, have been named Forty Under 40 honorees by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Six history students guided by Dr. Rosen and Dr. Garabedian translated their classroom education to living history sites with their trip to the American South, where they visited multiple historic sites related to the Black Freedom Struggle.

Dr. Jacqueline Reich has been appointed dean of the School of Communication and the Arts, effective Monday, July 12. Reich has a robust background in higher education and brings a wealth of knowledge to Marist.

John Mesaros is the first Marist student and one of just three students nationally to be awarded the Cognella Cares Student Scholarship. Mesaros’ award-winning essay discusses truth, credibility, and “fake news.”

Marist’s Fashion Program has been named one of Best Colleges That Are Shaping The Future Of Fashion by Forbes. The state-of-the-art Steel Plant building and 35th anniversary Silver Needle Runway are highlighted.

From taking an introspective look into American comedy, to the civics and ethics of videogames, and a memoir about a journey across the United States, this edition of Marist Authors highlights Dr. Phillip Scepanski’s, Dr. Karen Schrier’s, and Professor Tommy Zurhellen’s latest releases.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Exam, a monumental moment for the program and the college.

Capstone Professor, Pamela Harper, gave her students the unique opportunity to present their capstone projects to Marist alumni and executives from Synchrony, HP Enterprises, Accenture, Lowe’s, Marriott and Stryker.

Alvin Patrick Jr. ‘86, a Marist Trustee and the Executive Producer of CBS News’ Race and Culture Unit, is honoring history and paying tribute to the tragedy that claimed the lives of over 300 Black people on the 100th anniversary of the worst massacre to ever occur on American soil.
