Kyla Johson

Laboratory Director

Bio

Kyla Johnson is the Laboratory Director for the School of Science at Marist College, overseeing laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, purchasing, data governance, and safety programs across instructional and research environments. Holding a Master of Science in Chemistry, she has more than eight years of professional experience in pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, and academia, with a demonstrated ability to strengthen documentation integrity, streamline processes, and maintain audit-ready laboratory environments.

Before transitioning into academic laboratory leadership, Kyla developed a strong technical career as a chemist at Pfizer, Solvay, and Chemprene. Her industry experience includes designing and synthesizing polymers for mining applications, developing and scaling new rubber formulations, optimizing manufacturing processes through structured root-cause analysis, and conducting analytical characterization using NMR, IR, GC-MS, and HPLC. She also supported regulatory documentation, audit preparation, and high-volume operational systems in large research environments.
