Dr. Daria V. Hanssen
BSW Program Director and Associate Professor of Social Work
Bio
Daria joined the BSW program in 1996 as a part-time faculty member and field liaison. Soon after, she coordinated the adult BSW programs on Marist’s Goshen and Fishkill campuses. In 2001, Daria was offered a tenure track positon as Director of the BSW program and has held this position since. Prior to teaching at Marist, she taught at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont, as well as at SUNY New Paltz. Prior to working in higher education, Daria practiced in the fields of mental health with children and families, family preservation, hospice, and corrections. Currently, Daria continues to have consult with community agencies, serves on local boards of directors for Hudson River Housing and Mental Health America, as well as the New York State Social Work Education Association. She holds committee positions on the national board of the National Association of Social Workers and serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Social Work Education, as well as a member of the Nomination and Leadership Committee.
