Dr. Jessica Charles
Assistant Professor
Bio
Dr. Charles is a professor, researcher, and program director of the MS.Ed. Teacher Education program. She has worked in the field of education as a teacher, teacher educator, and teacher education researcher for nearly 30 years. She joins the faculty of Marist after serving in leadership positions at Bank Street Graduate School of Education and the University of California, Berkeley, where she also taught courses in teacher education and conducted her own research.
She is particularly interested in the role of organizations as mediators of teacher education programs and in how equity- and social-justice-oriented teacher education can be developed within university contexts to prepare teachers who can better serve pre-K-12 students.
