Amina Orzueva ’28 | Political Science Major | Internship: Spring 2026, Massachusetts House of Representatives | Presidential Fund for Equity Recipient

A summer internship at the Massachusetts House of Representatives gave Amina more than firsthand exposure to state government. It gave her substantive responsibility, practical experience, and an opportunity to explore where a career in public policy could lead.  Image of Amina Orzueva.

Working in the Office of State Representative Samantha Montano, Amina quickly took on assignments essential to the office’s daily work. She summarized bills, fact-checked information from other offices, compared versions of legislation, tracked budget items and policy priorities, and responded to constituent concerns.

The work required Amina to interpret complex legislative language and carefully review bills. She also gained a deeper understanding of how policy decisions affect individuals and how public offices balance limited resources with their responsibility to the communities they serve.

The experience deepened her interest in public policy and prompted her to consider law school after Marist, giving her the skills, experience, and professional direction to pursue that path.
