August 26, 2025 — The new year is officially underway, and whether you're a first-year, seasoned senior, or proud alum, here are five things that should be on your to-do list this fall.

1. 🏈 Football Home Opener Aug. 29: The ultimate Welcome Week finale

Nothing says Red Fox pride like packing Tenney Stadium under the lights for Friday’s football home opener vs. New Haven on Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. It’s the perfect way to wrap up Welcome Week with energy, spirit, and maybe even a record-breaking crowd (shoutout to last year’s Family Weekend 👀).

BONUS: One Marist student will get a chance at a $50,000 field goal attempt! Learn how to enter here.

🎟️ Pro tip: Marist students get in FREE with your ID.

Also catch these can't-miss matchups:

  • ⚽ Men’s Soccer vs. Army – August 28

2. 🏃‍♂️💨 New Track & Turf Field Now Open

The brand-new Track and Turf Field at Gartland Commons is officially ready for use! This new space was designed for athletic excellence, wellness, and community fun. Whether you’re training, competing, or just taking a walk, it’s your new go-to spot.

An official celebration will be held during the spring 2026 semester to commemorate the completion of this major new addition to campus, but in the meantime, students, athletes, and the entire campus community are encouraged to enjoy this new addition to the Marist campus right away.

The Student Programming Council (SPC) already has a stacked lineup of concerts, comedy nights, off-campus trips (including those famous $25 NYC bus trips), and themed weekends. If you’re looking to make memories (and maybe some new friends), this is where it’s at.

5. 📸 Say Hi to President Weinman

He’s everywhere — events, games, performances — and always down to chat. Don’t be shy! And who knows, you just may get an opportunity to snap a selfie with President Kevin Weinman and flex that Marist pride. Our campus makes the perfect backdrop for your next Instagram post.
