February 10, 2026 — For the first time ever, a Marist University alumnus took the field in a Super Bowl — and made history while doing so. The Seattle Seahawks' Jason Myers '13, who played for Marist from 2009-12, set a new Super Bowl record by kicking five field goals and giving Seattle 17 points in their 29-13 win over the New England Patriots.

Red Foxes nationwide were cheering him on throughout the game, lighting up social media feeds and alumni group chats.

Talking to ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday, Myers said that despite the pressure of the event, he was calm and ready for the moment.

“Before the game, I was expecting to feel more nerves,” he said. “I just knew that whenever my time was called, I was going to be ready for that moment.”

Myers’ performance was so good that he even entered the conversation for Super Bowl MVP — an award a kicker has never won. The night also capped a historic season for Myers, who became the first player in NFL history to surpass 200 points in a single season, finishing with 206 between the regular season and playoffs.

For Myers, now 34, it was a long, successful road from Tenney Stadium to the Super Bowl.

“The road that I’ve taken personally has built me into the person I am as a person—as a player in the NFL,” said Myers after the game. “It wasn’t always the easiest, but I’ll definitely always take it for what it is and build me into the man I am today.”

Myers was a standout performer for the Red Foxes. His Marist football career included multiple program records and laid the foundation for what would become one of the most impressive professional paths in the league.

Undrafted out of Marist, Myers fought his way through the Arena Football League before earning a shot with the Jacksonville Jaguars and then the New York Jets. He later landed in Seattle, where he has become one of the NFL’s most trusted specialists. That resilience ultimately carried him to football’s biggest stage — and a record‑setting performance the Marist community will never forget.

In the days leading up to the game, the University joined the excitement with a special Jason Myers bobblehead giveaway, celebrating the historic milestone and rallying campus pride behind one of their own.
