April 29, 2019—Italian Fashion Designer Francesca Liberatore will be at Marist College on Monday, May 6, to sign copies of a book about her work, Francesca Liberatore: Made in Italy, newly published by SilvanaEditoriale. The event, which will be held in the Steel Plant (home of Marist’s Fashion Program), will feature a talk by Liberatore, and a viewing of work from her most recent collection. The event will run 5:00-7:00pm, and is free and open to the public.

Copies of Francesca Liberatore will be available for a special donation price, with all proceeds benefiting scholarships for Fashion Program students.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, Liberatore has shown her work in a variety of key fashion shows, including New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. In 2009 she won CNMI’s Next Generation competition with her first individual collection. Before striking out on her own, Liberatore worked for some of the world’s greatest fashion houses, including Viktor&Rolf, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Brioni Womenswear.

Her relationship with the College has been extensive and this visit to Poughkeepsie coincides with her work as a judge for the 33rd annual Silver Needle Runway, a show featuring the works of senior design students, which will be held on Friday, May 10.

“We are thrilled to welcome Francesca back to campus,” said Radley Cramer, Director of the Fashion Program. “Our students have long benefited from both her expertise as a designer her discerning eye. This event allows the larger community to experience Francesca and her work firsthand.”
