Dear students, 

I am writing with an important update on the College’s plans for students to pick up personal belongings from their campus residences.  In response to the advice of students and parents, and to provide you with the best possible service, we are extending the deadline to pick up belongings to April 30.   This decision is intended to provide needed flexibility during this difficult time, and is also consistent with the best expert medical advice on social distancing.

 

Please contact housing@marist.edu when you know what date you will be able to move your belongings, and we will ensure the appropriate supports are in place. In the meantime, if there are specific items you need urgently from your residence, such as a passport or other important document, please let us know and we will work with you to make arrangements to send it.

Dear Resident Student,

I am writing to update you on the College’s plans for resident students to return to campus to pick up personal belongings from their campus residence. As you know from President Murray’s latest communication, Marist College has made the decision to move all classes online beginning Monday, March 30 with students completing their academic course work from home. We realize this is a challenging time for you and want to assure you that the College community will do everything we can to accommodate you in this process. The College has put in place the following procedure:

 

• Resident students may return to the campus during the period of Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 29 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.   
   
• Students residing in Leo, Sheahan, Marian, Champagnat, Midrise, Lavelle, McCormick, O’Shea and Ward halls – once you have packed up your belongings, a college staff representative will be present at the main building entrance to collect your room key upon your departure
   
• Students residing in Upper, Lower and Foy Townhouses are to return their room key to a college staff member at Upper New Townhouse H1
   
• Students residing in Upper West Cedar and Upper Fulton Townhouses are to return their key to a college staff member located at The Marketplace in Upper West Cedar
   
• Students residing in Lower Fulton and Lower West Cedar Townhouses are to return their room key to their respective area Resident Director Office
   

Staff from the Office of Safety and Security will be on-campus to assist with traffic control. In addition, laundry carts will be available for students to transport their belongings to their cars. The College will be monitoring crowd size within the halls, ensuring generally recommended health precautions in accordance with social distancing and housekeepers will be present cleaning high-touch areas.

If your circumstances prevent you from returning to campus during the designated times, please e-mail us from your Marist account to housing@marist.edu to request another time for check-out. Parents may also e-mail the College at housing@Marist.edu through their personal e-mail account. Requests must be received a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your arrival. Requests will be acknowledged in a timely manner. 

Only students participating in academic obligations (student teaching or internship) or essential campus work obligations as determined by the College can request to remain in campus housing. If this situation applies to you, you must e-mail your request to the Office of Housing and Residential Life no later than Monday, March 23 by 12 noon via your Marist e-mail to housing@marist.edu. International students who are unable to travel to their home country and need to remain on campus should also contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life.
