The Marist Poll, The Wall Street Journal, and NBC have joined forces to conduct a series of polls in key presidential battleground states. New polls of likely voters in three states will be unveiled each week from now until Election Day, beginning Thursday, September 13, with results and analysis of post-convention opinion in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia.
"Building on our successful Republican Primary polling with NBC News, we are delighted to have The Wall Street Journal join the NBC News/Marist Poll partnership for polling in battleground states from now until Election Day," says Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.
As results are released, NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd will break down the numbers on "NBC Nightly News" (6:30pm ET), and the political unit will provide coverage online at NBCNews.com. The Journal will analyze the numbers in print and in stories on its polling page online at WSJ.com. The Marist Poll will provide complete survey results and survey methods, and on the mornings following their release, Dr. Miringoff will offer analysis of the results live on MSNBC's The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd.
NBC News and The Wall Street Journal have a long-standing partnership in conducting national polling, stretching back more than two decades. The national NBC News/WSJ poll, co-directed by Republican and Democratic polling teams, has earned a reputation as one of the most accurate and reliable of all public polls.
The Marist Poll is a survey research center at Marist College in New York's Hudson River Valley with long experience in national and state polling. NBC News and Marist partnered successfully during the 2012 Republican primary season to gauge public opinion in key Republican primary and caucus states leading up to the Republican nomination.
