Cosgrove, who retired as J&J’s vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer in 2015, also chairs Marist’s School of Management Advisory Board.

November 13, 2019—The Marist College Board of Trustees elected Stephen Cosgrove to the Board during its annual meeting held on campus in November.

Cosgrove had a highly successful career with Johnson & Johnson that spanned more than 40 years. During that time, he served in multiple senior roles, including as a finance director for corporate affiliates in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. He retired as a vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer in 2015.

Cosgrove has had a longstanding connection to the College. Two of his children, Stephen Jr., and Kathleen, graduated from Marist in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Stephen Jr. also earned a master’s degree from Marist in 2011. Cosgrove has also shared his professional expertise with the College, serving as chair of the School of Management’s Advisory Board since 2013 and participating in numerous student case competitions.

Marist President Dennis Murray noted what a strong addition Cosgrove is to the Board. “Steve has been a great friend to the College, and he will bring significant financial expertise and the valuable parent perspective to the Board’s discussions and decision making. He understands Marist’s educational mission firsthand, and I am grateful for his willingness to serve the College in this capacity.”

Educated at Rutgers University and Rider University, Cosgrove resides in North Brunswick, New Jersey, with his wife, Debby. He will participate in his first meeting as a Marist trustee in February 2020.
