At Marist, Perusall can be integrated into our learning management system, Brightspace, providing a collaborative platform that promotes active engagement with digital content through annotation, commenting, and questioning. This integration allows instructors to seamlessly create opportunities for engaging activities such as collaborative discussion directly into their course materials. 

Perusall offers a range of interactive features that help students engage more deeply with assigned readings. Users can highlight passages, post questions, and participate in threaded discussions, either in real time or asynchronously. The platform also provides analytics, such as reading time and annotation activity which helps instructors understand how students are interacting with the material and where additional support may be needed.  

Note: Marist University does not have a site license with Perusall, the information below reflects changes in pricing.

Starting July 6, 2026. Instructors creating a free materials-only course at an institution without a license will be asked to select a student platform fee.  We will no longer provide the $0 option. When choosing a platform fee, instructors will have the agency to exempt individual students in their Perusall course due to financial hardship.

Fee waivers will be available for students, and will automatically be approved if any of the following criteria apply to a course:

• I’m using Perusall with my students for the first time
• I’m testing or demoing Perusall
• My institution does not allow students to pay for courseware
• I missed my institution’s deadline for assigning a fee, but I will add it next term
• I’m interested in assigning a fee, but my bookstore doesn’t work with Perusall
