February 6, 2026 — As the world turns its attention to Super Bowl LX, Marist University is celebrating one of its own on football’s biggest stage.

Jason Myers ’13—a two-time Pro Bowler now completing his 11th NFL season and one of the league’s most consistently elite kickers—will become the first Marist alumnus ever to play in a Super Bowl when he takes the field for the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots.

DID YOU KNOW? Jason Myers will be the second Marist representative to play in a major sports championship/series, following Rik Smits ’88, who played in the 2000 NBA Finals with the Indiana Pacers.

In the week leading up to the game, Marist fans across campus and around the country have had fun showing their support for their fellow Red Fox. The University launched a limited-edition Jason Myers Marist bobblehead giveaway on social media, with students, alumni, and Red Fox fans entering for a chance to win a custom collectible honoring the NFL star. Marist sports communication students in California this week attending the Super Bowl’s media week personally presented Myers with a bobblehead.

For Myers, the moment is the culmination of a career built on reliability and a decade‑long climb from Poughkeepsie to the Super Bowl. Myers remains closely connected to many from his days at Marist — including retired former head coach Jim Parady who has been traveling to watch Myers play and will be at the Super Bowl.

“Me and Coach Parady are still close. He came out to Seattle last week for the NFC Championship Game,” said Myers while talking to Marist sports communication students filing reports for Center Field and The Red Fox Report at the Super Bowl. “We’ve probably gotten a lot closer over the years. Coach P. is one of my best friends right now.”

That connection to Marist has stayed with him long after his playing days in Poughkeepsie.

“The tight‑knit community there. I think that helped me a lot coming from the West Coast. I still keep in touch with a lot of friends I played with and those I didn’t play with. I’m just so thankful for my time there and still having a following and all the support from those guys. Just a huge thank you to them,” said Myers.

Brother Frank Kelly, Director of the Department of Spiritual Life and Service, has known Myers and his friends from the football team since their first year, when they all lived in the same wing in Champagnat Hall.

“We all became fast friends,” said Brother Frank. “We’ve been in touch ever since he graduated. He called me and asked me to be a part of his wedding. So I flew out to San Diego and met his wonderful wife Katie and I was one of the officiants.”

Before he was an NFL standout, Myers was a record-setting kicker for the Red Foxes from 2009–12. The Marist football program produced two NFL players during those years. Fellow Class of 2013 graduate Terrence Fede ’13 was Marist’s first-ever NFL draft selection, chosen by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Myers’ Marist career began with a dramatic game-winner, drilling a field goal with two seconds remaining to defeat Georgetown. Two years later, he connected on a 49‑yard field goal at Davidson—setting a program record at the time.

Myers began his NFL career in 2015 with the Jacksonville Jaguars before breaking out as a Pro Bowler with the New York Jets in 2018. His performance earned him a multi-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, where he has remained one of the team’s most dependable weapons. He earned a second Pro Bowl selection in 2022, and is now the organization’s all-time leading scorer.

Coach Parady, who retired after the 2023 season, has had a front‑row seat to Jason Myers’ rise, both as a player and as a person.

“Watching Jason grow from his time at Marist into one of the best in the world has been one of the joys of my career,” said Parady. “We’ve stayed close over the years, and that friendship means the world to me. I’m incredibly proud of everything he’s achieved, and I'll be rooting for him on Sunday.”

That pride is echoed by others who coached Myers during his time at Marist.

“This is an exciting week for Jason and for Marist,” said Tom Kelly, kicking coach at Marist during those years. “I am equally proud of every player I was fortunate enough to have coached at Marist for 40 years. I am more proud of the person Jason has become than the kicker he has become.”

Kickoff for Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara is set for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
