Research Integrity & Responsible Conduct
Marist Researchers are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the research process. This includes compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, completing Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training, and adhering to institutional policies on research misconduct.
Before beginning proposal development, all investigators should carefully review both the sponsor’s program guidelines and Marist’s institutional research policies (above). If you have questions about any applicable policies or requirements, please contact the Sponsored Programs and Research Office as early as possible in the process.
Human Subjects Research
If your project involves human participants, Marist’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) ensures that any research involving human participants complies with ethical guidelines and receives required approvals. If your grant-funded project involves research with human participants, including surveys, interviews, or the use of identifiable data, you must obtain IRB approval before beginning any work. The IRB ensures that ethical standards are met, participants are protected, and all activities comply with federal regulations. Visit the IRB page for submission guidelines, training requirements (such as CITI certification), and information on collaborative or international research protocols.
