Bard College
Bard College is known for taking innovative approaches to a traditional liberal arts and sciences education, giving real-world context to each major. Each program’s curriculum is rooted in an allegiance to free speech, civility, dissent, and the traditions of scientific and speculative inquiry.
The College’s nearly 50 academic programs are organized into four divisions—Arts; Languages and Literature; Science, Mathematics, and Computing; and Social Studies—and Bard encourages interdivisional fields of study as well.
Bard is a private college operating in the public interest, inviting students to link coursework, critical thinking, and civic engagement activities to the educational needs of communities around the world. The Center for Civic Engagement supports this mission by helping students connect with service-learning opportunities, design their own projects, and secure internships worldwide.
Of note, Bard College is a leader in prison education, providing students across New York State with the opportunity to complete a Bard BA degree from prison through a student-started civic engagement program called the Bard Prison Initiative, now one of the largest programs of its kind in the country.
Almost 80 percent of Bard students receive financial assistance. The College focuses on increasing accessibility to the kind of education that Bard offers and, consequently, 25 percent of the student body is Pell Grant eligible.

The CIA is the world’s premier culinary college. As a true not-for-profit college, our mission is to provide the world’s best professional culinary education. Students choose the CIA for our gold-standard education programs, expert faculty, world-class facilities, and outstanding career opportunities.
Our programs are for anyone with a passion for food—from students striving to become the next Charlie Palmer (CIA Class of ’79), Grant Achatz (CIA Class of ’94), or Cat Cora (CIA Class of ’95), to professionals looking to advance their skills and food lovers seeking the best in education for the home cook.
As the college’s main campus, the Hyde Park location presents students and visitors with the benefits of a major college campus, unique in all of culinary education for its offerings and resources set on 170 acres.
Many guests come to dine at the college’s famous on-campus restaurants and café. In addition, the New York campus offers public tours given by current CIA students and a bookstore featuring epicurean delights, cookbooks, souvenirs, and assorted kitchen utensils.
Marist
Marist College, recognized for excellence by U.S. News & World Report, Time, and "The Princeton Review," and by "Barron's Best Buys in College Education," is noted for its leadership in the use of technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
Founded in 1929, Marist's 210-acre campus overlooks the Hudson River in the heart of the historic Hudson Valley, midway between New York City and Albany, the state capital.
What started as a school for the training of future Marist Brothers has developed into one of the leading colleges of the arts and sciences in the nation. Marist is ecumenical in character and reflects the ideals of the founder of the Marist Brothers, St. Marcellin Champagnat: commitment to excellence in education, a pursuit of higher human values, and dedication to the principle of service.
Marist is dedicated to helping students develop the intellect and character required for enlightened, ethical, and productive lives in the global community of the 21st century.
West Point
The United States Military Academy has been educating, training, and inspiring leaders of character for our United States Army and for the nation for more than 200 years. West Point provides a 47-month leader-development program steeped in academic rigor, military discipline, and physical challenges, all built upon a moral-ethical foundation. The academy is an internationally recognized institution for academic, military and physical excellence, and we are proud that today's cadets will become tomorrow's military, public and private-sector leaders.
West Point's purpose is to produce leaders of character who are prepared to provide selfless service to our Army and the nation. West Point provides a broad-based and balanced curriculum to ensure graduates acquire knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary for them to effectively address the complex and uncertain challenges they will face in their personal and professional lives. When students enter the United States Military Academy at West Point, they are beginning a profession. Career development starts on the first day; everything cadets experience is focused on developing them as leaders of character who will serve as officers in America's Army upon graduation when they are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. As they begin their military careers, they become leaders of Soldiers, and each new promotion brings additional responsibility and increased opportunity.
