Summer Pre-College: Introduction to Studio Art (Drawing Intensive)
Message from the Faculty Directors: Drawing Intensive
Welcome to Marist and the Pre College Summer Intro to Studio Art course for high school students. This program provides you with an exciting opportunity to develop a professional drawing portfolio and work alongside other creative and highly motivated individuals while earning college credit and experiencing college life. Students will follow a college-level curriculum with day-long classes in professional studio settings, critiques, visits to art museums and culminating exhibitions. Upon successful completion of the Intro to Studio Art Program - Drawing Intensive Course, each student will earn three (3) transferable college credits for the Marist course, ART 110N (Basic Drawing).
Program Director – Malgorzata Oakes, Ph.D.
Malgorzata Oakes, PhD is the Summer Pre-College Director of Intro to Studio Art. Dr. Oakes teaches the following courses: advanced and introductory Drawing, advanced and introductory Painting, Visual Book, Basic Printmaking, Senior Thesis and Senior Capstone Thesis. Her work is exhibited nationally and internationally with solo exhibitions in the United States, France, Spain and Poland. She is a recipient of scholarships and fellowships in the United States and Europe. Dr. Oakes is a founder of the Summer Pre-College Intro to Studio Art program at Marist and truly looks forward to working closely with young individuals sharing her expertise, knowledge and her extensive research.
