Study Abroad
Korea, Seoul - CIEE: Seoul - Yonsei University Arts and Science
Further your business skills and learn the Korean culture and language in the vibrant business hub of South Korea.
Location
Seoul, the largest city in South Korea, is wonderful place to study business and economics because of the large and prominent business center. The city is filled with culture and education areas such as museums, monuments, festivals, and palaces. The Gwangjang Market, a popular destination, is Seoul’s largest food alley and is composed of around 200 vendors.
Institution
Yonsei University is the most prestigious private institution in Korea for higher education. The student population is over 30,000 students with more than 1,000 of them traveling from 20 different countries. The campus has a fitness center, pool, gym, and athletic fields. Courses are taught in English.
Academics
Students enroll in class among other native Korean students. An in-depth orientation is provided to educate students about the country and extracurricular activities are provided for students to engage each other. Students will be provided excursion opportunities and projects in Seoul such as volunteering.
Classes are held in seminar and lecture formats, some may include excursions. Classes are taught in English and students have the option of taking Korean classes, a 3 credit and a 6 credit course are available. Students are able to enroll in 15-18 credits a semester.
Student Life & Co-Curricular
Yonsei University provides clubs for the students to join such as music, hiking, and art. Volunteer opportunities are available for students who are interested. CIEE provides excursions for the students such as the Hwaomsa Temple, Korean Demilitarized Zone, homestays and cultural enrichment activities in the area.
Housing
Students are able to choose between a homestay, dorm, or in-city relatives. The dorm is connected to one of the academic buildings and has separate floors for men and women. Each room houses two students and comes with a private bathroom. A lounge, study room, and seminar room is located on each floor. Within the dormitory, there is also a music room, computer area, fitness center, laundry room, and a kitchen. Homestays are between a 40-80 minute commute to the school but provide students with a private room, and a shared kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facility. The family provides breakfast and dinner for the student. Both locations have internet.
Program Cost
The program fee includes tuition (12-16 credits), accommodation, program orientation, scheduled academic excursions, and international health insurance.
