CBS Producer Alvin Patrick to join Marist Board of Trustees
Broadcast news and sports producer Alvin Patrick has been appointed to the Marist College Board of Trustees. Patrick is a Marist alumnus, class of 1986, and holds a BA in communication.
“The Board and I are delighted to welcome Alvin as a trustee,” said President David Yellen. “His longstanding commitment to Marist and deep expertise in the communication industry will be invaluable assets to the College.”
A veteran of broadcast and cable television, Patrick is currently Specials Producer for CBS, a position that has him working on high profile stories with CBS News Special Correspondent James Brown for 60 Minutes, CBS Evening News, Sunday Morning, CBS This Morning, and 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime. Before joining CBS, Patrick was a Senior Producer for The Daily, News Corporation’s digital news magazine. In his impressive career he has produced news, sports, and entertainment programming at ABC, CBS, ESPN, HBO, and MTV.
Patrick has received numerous awards for his work, including six National Emmy award nominations, six National Association of Black Journalists awards, a Gabriel Award and a Freddie Award. He also shared an Edward R. Murrow Award with his colleagues at CBS News.
As an alumnus, Patrick has shown great support of the College as a member of the Communication Advisory Board, sharing his expertise with the School of Communication & the Arts and advising students on internships. In 2015, Patrick received the Marist College Distinguished Alumni Medal, the highest award given to a Marist graduate, and delivered the address at the College’s adult and graduate student commencement. That same year he was the keynote speaker at the Poughkeepsie-based Catharine Street Community Center’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. In 2012, he was inducted into the “Wall of Achievers” by his high school alma mater, Martin Luther School in Maspeth, New York.
He and his wife Beverly Jocelyn Patrick reside in New York City and Connecticut and have two grown children.
