Fun. Fast-paced. Challenging. Competitive. Whether it's business-building behind the scenes or designing for the showroom or runway, fashion today is a diverse and exciting industry. The Fashion Program at Marist successfully prepares its students to enter the world of fashion and pursue careers in merchandising, planning, product development, retailing, operations, fashion promotion, event production, and a gamut of other employment opportunities. Students gain the skills, knowledge and internship experiences within an encouraging academic environment to help them flourish in the fashion industry.

The Fashion Program features a comprehensive curriculum leading to Bachelor of Science Degree for Fashion Merchandising or a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree for Fashion Design. Fashion Merchandising majors may opt for one or more concentrations--Business, Product Development or Fashion Promotion. Fashion Design majors may opt for a minor in Product Development or Merchandising. The Marist College Fashion Program is also pleased to offer a Masters of Science degree in Global Fashion Merchandising in collaboration with Mod-Spe Paris, the Fashion Business School.

The Fashion Design major trains students to create apparel for various markets considering creative, trend, target customer, technical, and production factors. Students develop skills in design, textiles, draping and flat pattern making, garment construction, and computer-aided design. In their senior year, they design and execute an apparel collection under the guidance of a professional designer to be shown at the School's annual Silver Needle Fashion Show, as well as a professional portfolio.

The Fashion Merchandising major concentrates on the planning, procurement, and marketing aspects of the fashion business. Students learn to research target markets, analyze business results, and develop strategies that effectively meet the needs of consumers. In their senior year, Merchandising students create an in-depth project in collaboration with a major fashion company.

The Marist College Fashion Program is pleased to offer a Masters of Science degree in Global Fashion Merchandising in collaboration with Mod-Spe Paris, the Fashion Business School.  This unique 36-credit Master degree is designed to be efficiently completed in one calendar year with intensive studies in both Paris and New York. Guest lectures by industry professionals, visits to international trade shows and events, and trend-influencing neighborhoods and museum exhibits will widen the students’ global awareness and readiness to create proactive responses to the rapidly changing fashion industry. The program presents a unique cutting-edge academic blend of international approaches to the fashion industry and has been created to provide students with a fast-track toward career advancement.  A graduate capstone study may be supported by a choice of collaboration with international fashion industry partners or pursued as an entrepreneurial exploration. Study commences each year in early September and concludes no later than the following August.

In addition to the Marist College Admissions application, additional information is required for applicants who would like to be considered for the Fashion Degrees.
