Endowed Scholarships
In addition to general Marist Admission scholarships that are available to all students, science majors may be eligible for the following special endowed scholarships, which are only students majoring in a School of Science program:
The Mary Lou Gantert Scholarship is named for a former Marist science student and is awarded to a current science student who possesses superior academic potential.
The Dr. Frank A. Gagan Memorial Scholarship is named for the former team physician for Marist's athletic program. It is awarded annually to upper-class students majoring in a program offered by the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or Athletic Training, and is based upon academic achievement and financial need.
The Dr. George B. Hooper Scholarship is named after Professor Emeritus of Biology Dr. George B. Hooper, who also served as the Chair of the Division of Science for many years. The scholarship is awarded to students based upon general academic merit and demonstrated ability in the field of science.
The Dr. Aleski A. Leonidoff Scholarship is awarded to science majors with demonstrated financial need who plan to specialize in science pre-medical studies.
The Dr. Andrew A. Molloy Scholarship in Chemistry honors a Marist graduate who served the College as a Brother, Chemistry Professor, Science Division Chair, and Academic Vice President. The scholarship is awarded annually to a top Chemistry or Biochemistry major who exemplifies Dr. Molloy's commitment to academic excellence and service to others.
The NSF S-Stem Scholarship and the Gateway to Success program will increase STEM degree completion among high-achieving undergraduate transfer students with significant financial need. It includes strong mentoring and career planning support, while fostering a sense of belonging to both the campus and community, and adding to the professional formation of students’ science identities.
