Office of the President
Marist University President
Kevin Weinman
Dr. Kevin C. Weinman became the fifth president of Marist University on October 4, 2021. A collaborative and student-centered leader, President Weinman is known for his accessibility and deep connection with the Marist community. He can often be found attending University events, meeting with student clubs, or welcoming students to his regular office hours—reflecting his belief that Marist is an extraordinarily special community defined by genuine care and support for one another.
Since joining Marist, President Weinman has guided the institution through one of the most significant periods in its history—marked by its elevation from a college to a university in January 2025. This milestone reflects Marist's heightened national and international reputation and the power of its distinctive "and not or" philosophy that blends a liberal arts foundation with pre-professional experiences both in and out of the classroom.
At the heart of his leadership is Marist 100, a bold strategic plan that articulates a vision to close out the University's first century and enter its next chapter. The plan focuses on three pillars: advancing academic vibrancy, enriching the student experience, and bringing Marist to the world and the world to Marist by building a broader, expansive community that is welcoming for all. This framework continues to guide major institutional priorities and investments across the University.
Under President Weinman's leadership, Marist has undertaken transformative initiatives that advance the goals of Marist 100. The new Dyson Center, a reimagined academic hub that opened in 2024 and is home to the School of Management and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, exemplifies Marist's commitment to innovative teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student success. Additional campus enhancements, including a new track and turf field complex, have expanded opportunities for athletics and recreation. Building on this momentum, the University has since completed a comprehensive Master Plan to guide the next phase of campus development and enhance the overall student experience. The University has recently published an ambitious plan for Sustainability, as well as Athletics.
Strengthening the University's academic community has also been a major priority. Since his arrival, Marist has welcomed some of the largest cohorts of new full-time faculty in its history—nearly 100 since 2022—reflecting a sustained investment in academic and intellectual excellence.
President Weinman and his wife, Beth, have also demonstrated their belief in the transformative power of the Marist experience. Through their leadership and generosity, the Presidential Fund for Equity in the Marist Experience — a fund they created with a significant pledge two months after their arrival in 2021 and expanded in 2023 — has grown to about $2 million and has supported more than 300 students. The fund helps students get the most out of their Marist experience, regardless of financial circumstances, by supporting high-impact learning opportunities such as courses with a global travel component and internships.
Before Marist, President Weinman served as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Amherst College. He also held financial leadership positions at Dartmouth College and corporate roles at Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Deluxe Corporation, and Western Union.
A first-generation college student, President Weinman earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of New Hampshire, an M.A. in History from the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs, an M.B.A. from the Kenan–Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, and a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. His academic background in American history and public policy combined with a career in business continues to shape his thoughtful and mission-driven approach to leadership, reinforcing his belief in the power of combining a strong liberal arts foundation with pre-professional preparation—an approach that lies at the heart of a Marist education.
President Weinman is a native New Yorker who grew up in northern New Jersey. His wife, Beth, a fellow UNC–Chapel Hill graduate with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in accounting, shares his passion for higher education and student success. Their son, Alex, is a 2025 graduate of Marist’s Integrated Marketing Communication master’s program, and their daughter, Brooke, is a junior in college. The Weinmans live on the Marist campus with their energetic Labradoodle, Cody, who has quickly become a favorite among students and enjoys meeting them on long walks on Marist’s beautiful campus.
