Fall 2026 Training Dates and Timeframe*

Training:

Prior to Fall 2026 classes. Specific dates TBD.

Peer Mentor Timeframe:

Peer Mentors will serve in their roles throughout the Fall 2026 semester. 

If you are interested in learning more about the Peer Mentor position, please attend one of the following information sessions:

  • Wednesday, January 28 at 7 p.m. in Murray Student Center 3102
  • Thursday, February 5 at 11 a.m. in Murray Student Center 3102

Peer Mentor Job Description

The primary goal of the Peer Mentor Program is to help foster connection between first-year students and the Marist community. Peer Mentors are expected to be a source of information and connection for students, as well as to facilitate opportunities for first-year students to meet and interact while becoming familiar with campus resources. The following duties are expected of a Peer Mentor:

  • Participate in the training program prior to beginning the Peer Mentor role
  • Be comfortable interactive with students individually and in small groups
  • Work with First Year Experience Coordinators on developing and facilitating programming through the duration of the fall semester
  • Outreach to individuals and small groups at least once a week and provide engagements for your assigned small group

Frequently Asked Questions

Peer Mentors, known as PMs, are student leaders who are training to help introduce new members of the Marist community to the various programs, services, and opportunities that make a Marist education. Peer Mentors help new students navigate their first semester at Marist.

While there is no set list of traits that combine to make the perfect Peer Mentor, there are some qualities we do look for: hard-working, outgoing, a leader, team player, positive, energetic, and most of all, dedicated to the Marist Red Fox Spirit!

All undergraduate students in good standing are invited to apply to be an Peer Mentor. The submitted student profile of each candidate is reviewed individually to determine whether they fit with the current Peer Mentor team.

Peer Mentors are paid hourly for 3-5 hours each week of the fall semester.
