I went into Marist not knowing a lot and I didn’t know what I wanted to do, so my love for animals is what led me in this direction, I am grateful for the professors and everyone who helped guide me to where I am today.

Ever since I could remember I have always wanted to work in Pediatrics. My patient care experience in bariatric surgery sparked a passion for working in obesity medicine. I aspire to combine both of my career goals and help fight the obesity epidemic.

Football was the reason I came to Marist, but these coaches encouraged and supported me through both academic and community endeavors, and they got me to produce on the field to the best of my ability. Associate Professor of Biology, Luis Espinasa, was my first scientific mentor, and I would not have the career I have if it weren’t for the training I received from him.

Chemistry Major, Biology Minor

Marist was where I learned how to ask a good question. This may seem arbitrary until you try to formulate a good research question! Additionally, the combination of science classes and involvement in the Celebration of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (CURSCA) really marked my first foray into the world of the research sciences.
