Student Internships
An internship is a structured, hands-on learning experience that includes an academic element and is designed to align with a student's interests and career goals. Internship Coordinators in French, Italian, and Spanish collaborate closely with students and the Center for Career Services to help identify internship opportunities that complement and enhance their academic training.
Interns engage in tasks such as translation/interpretation, research, teaching, interviewing, and producing social media, among others, in a professional environment, for credit or for pay. Each internship experience allows students to hone their communication skills in both English and the target language as well as practice intercultural competence in real-world settings—offering valuable insight across multiple fields of study.
Students are currently placed in a diverse range of locations, including the Hudson Valley, Albany, New York City, and even international sites. Transportation is available if needed. A limited number of on-campus and remote internship opportunities are also offered. Here are examples of our recent placements. These internship sites provide interdisciplinary experiences that intersect with fields such as Education, History, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Pre-Law, Pre-Health, Psychology, Social Work, and Environmental Studies.
